Cake Smash Sessions

Your baby is turning ONE. Want to do a memorable photo shoot? Let them have a ball eating up their very own birthday cake. Cake smash sessions is a fun way to celebrate your baby becoming a toddler.

What to Bring

  • Due to concern for allergies, you provide the cake or cupcake. 6” is a great size for either. I can provide the cake (additional $65) with a signed allergy release.
  • Avoid red and chocolate cake and icing. Red tends to look “gross” or “bloody” for a lack of technical a term unless your going for a Zombie session.
  • Remove the cake from the refrigerator 2-3 before the session.
  • Bring your cake Smash outfit, and clothes to change into after.
  • Bring your child’s favorite fnack, to hide in cake if needed.
  • Bubble bath or soap if your child requires special soap because of allergies. We do have a bathtub for cleanup after your session.
  • Extra clothes for you, in case you get full of frosting.

NOTE: A cake smash takes coordination on both our parts. I will coordinate the backdrop with your cake colors/theme but I will need to know three weeks before your scheduled session what your colors and theme are so I have time to gather or make what is needed.

Investment includes:

  • Pre-session phone or in person consultation before the session
  • Session questionnaire to tailor the session to your wants
  • Single child* (call if you have twins)
  • Monday – Friday (limited weekend availability)
  • Access to client closet & prop collection
  • Full sized bathtub for cleanup
  • Options to purchase additional images
  • Online gallery or in person ordering.
  • Personal printing rights
  • Additional digital images and heirloom quality print products are available for purchase, but no further purchase is required beyond the initial session fees.

Your choice of one of the following sessions:

Simple Cake Smash: $250

  • 1 set/outfit, custom setups not available.
  • Single child only, no family poses (Please call about twins)
  • Basic set (White on White, or Simple set up with banners and/or basic balloons.
  • Does not include balloon garland
  • Pre-smash and smash photos on the same set
  • Cake not provided
  • 10 digital images via download upon completion of editing

Themed Cake Smash: $375

  • Themed setup with existing props or client provided props
  • Can include balloon garland. Balloons can be taken home after session.
  • Can include a few family photos. Does not include any additional images. This is not a full family session but adds 2 to 3 family proof images to your gallery. This includes Mom, Dad and any other siblings in the immediate (nuclear) family.
  • 15 digital images via download upon completion of editing

Add ons:

  • Splash Session: $70 and 5 additional digital images
  • Balloon Garland: $50
  • Custom Sets: Please Call.

Cake information

Cakes are the responsibility of the client. Please read the tips below when ordering your cake.

  • Best cakes to smash are plain white/vanilla cakes. Avoid chocolate, red, or dark colored cakes.
  • Buttercream icing is perfect, avoid fondant as it is a choking hazard. Avoid colors such as red, black, brown, dark blue or other dark colors. These colors can stain skin, clothing and backdrops.
  • Best size cake is a 6″  two layered round cake or 6″ cupcake.
  • If you baby has allergies, make sure your baker knows what ingredients to avoid. If cake is not an option we can do other foods.

Ready to book a Cake Smash Session?

All you have to do is fill out the Consultation Request Form and we can work out a time for your portrait consultation. All sessions require a non-refundable deposit. Deposits are a way for people who would like to work with me to show good faith and commitment. The deposit amount is $50 and must be paid when booking your portrait session. This deposit will be applied towards the total payment for your final service. The remaining balance is due before the start of your session. Cash only if you choose to pay the day of your session.

After your deposit is paid, you will be sent a link to the portrait contract and a questionnaire (if doing a phone consultation, otherwise we go over everything at your in person consultation) once completed your time and date will be added to the schedule.
